Live Online Training (LOT)
We are all familiar with the apparent benefits of an instructor-led classroom training
event. Though asynchronous web-based training has been around for quite some time, their
effectiveness has been a continuous subject of scrutiny and discussion despite its merits
under certain circumstances.
A lot of the studies conducted on online learning methodologies point out the frequent need
for some sort of an instructor guidance and interaction. This is exactly why learning
solutions solely based on web-based techniques did not turn out to be as successful as once
thought. The solution lies in the creation of a teaching methodology which contains a proper
mix of self-paced study and instructor guidance at the right time and speed.
Blended learning is a combination of virtual and physical environments and is a powerful
solution to give you the best of both worlds. While you are still at the convenience of your
office or your home, you will have the advantage of watching your instructor explain the
complex details of the subject matter along with some invaluable tips. This scheme lets you
ask questions, work on hands-on exercises at the supervision of your instructor and discuss
the course material with your instructor to re-inforce your learning experience.
Live Online Training (LOT) from Sirius ICT is an instructor-led online training system and is
a great opportunity for remote participants who are not able to travel to our training site.
It brings the instructor where you are with the convenience and cost-saving of an online
training using the same high-quality course materials used in classroom trainings.
Ortogon Training Group started off its LOT program by offering following four online
courses in Turkish:
1. Java EE Web Applications
2. JavaServer Faces (JSF)
3. Java Persistent API (JPA)
4. Introduction to XML
For whom?
Currently, most of the online courses are 1- or 2-day courses and it is assumed that the
participants have some background for the subject matter. In some cases, having a strong
background for the pre-requisite of an online course will suffice and our short term
course will provide enough basis for the participant to move on his/her own.
Technical requirements?
Participant needs access to the following:
1. Computer (Laptop/Desktop)
2. Headset (microphone/speakers) and a web cam
3. High speed Internet (3G/VDSL/ADSL/Leased line)
How does it work?
1. Participant chooses a date for the course on the web page (along with the time zone
and language preferences) and registers for the course by makeing a payment (via credit
card or money transfer).
2. Electronic course materials are sent to delegate's e-mail address before the training
(participant's examination of the course materials and the study guide increaes the
overall efficiency of the training seesion substantially).
3. All login credentails are sent to the participant's e-mail address that are needed to
connect to the virtual classroom on the day of the training.
4. Participant logs into the virtual classroom from a convenient (preferably peaceful) place
(home, office, hotel room) and follows the course online in close interaction with the
trainer. Remember that connecting to our virtual classroom does not require any program
installation on the client side as it is all done via a web interface.
